Public Accounting Firm (CPA) is looking to add a new member to the team. We are looking for a staff accountant or bookkeeper who is a great communicator with excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Compensation: Starting at $20.00 per hour depending on experience.
We are seeking a motivated Junior Staff Accountant to support our accounting and tax team. This position is suitable for someone with practical experience in personal tax preparation, corporate bookkeeping, payroll, and GST/HST filings who is looking to further develop their accounting and tax skills in a professional accounting environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant work experience
- Previous experience preparing Canadian personal income tax returns
- Previous experience performing bookkeeping for corporations
- Experience with payroll processing and GST/HST return preparation
- Positive understanding of basic accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial records
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with client and financial information
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Roles and Responsibilities The successful candidate will assist the accounting and tax team with the following:
- Preparing T1 Personal Income Tax Returns
- Preparing T2125 Statements of Business or Professional Activities
- Preparing T776 Statements of Real Estate Rentals
- Processing payroll for corporate clients
- Preparing and filing T4(A)/5 Slips
- Recording and reviewing financial transactions
- Completing bank and credit card reconciliations
- Investigating bookkeeping discrepancies
- Assisting with year-end bookkeeping adjustments and clean-up
- Preparing and electronically filing monthly, quarterly, and annual GST/HST returns
- Assisting senior accountants with the preparation of T2 Corporate Income Tax Returns & Financial Statements
- Reviewing and organizing client tax documents and supporting information
- Identifying missing information and assisting with client follow-ups
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience with some of the following would be considered an asset:
- QuickBooks Online
- Canadian personal and corporate tax preparation software
- Payroll software
- Microsoft Excel
- GST/HST preparation and filing
- Corporate year-end bookkeeping
- CRA My Business Account or Represent a Client
- Excellent organizational skills
- Attention to detail and ability to effectively multi task
- Ability to deal with confidential matters
- Work effectively in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
- Administrative experience is highly recommended
- Working in an accounting, bookkeeping, or public practice environment
