McTavish Resource Management Consultants Ltd, is growing and has an incredible opportunity for a senior professional eager to be apart of our growth into Northwest British Columbia. Working closely with our partners in the Kitselas First Nation community and Wai Wah Environmental, this role would take the lead in establishing McTavish's new office in Terrace, taking on some incredible projects throughout Northern BC!

The Team Lead will lead and support various field and office components of environmental projects in the forestry, utility, oil and gas, government, and private sectors. Environmental projects will involve natural resource management, with a focus on fish and fish habitat, wildlife and wildlife habitat and species at risk.

The Team

Lead will also periodically provide support and lead projects related to construction environmental monitoring, water quality management, and erosion and sediment control, as well as provide independent review of technical documents to support project planning and regulatory requirements.

Lead will work collaboratively with other Team Leads and will support the day-to-day management of Project Leads, junior and intermediate professionals in overall project delivery.

Key Job Functions & Responsibilities

Key Project Management duties include but are not limited to the following:

- Act as a key project resource and client contact for environmental management projects.
- Project resource coordination support for multiple projects.
- Independently prepare, coordinate and/or review technical reports and permit applications associated with regulatory approvals and/or compliance requirements.
- Complete the preparation of proposals, cost estimates and procurement initiatives.
- Manage & review budget tracking of Self-Led projects.
- Ensure project deliverables meet technical requirements as defined by applicable law and client expectations.
- Independently coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring project deliverable are met in a timely manner.
- Lead the design, planning and execution of ecological studies focused on fisheries and aquatic resources, but also including water quality, wildlife, vegetation, and other environmental information.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in the independent collection, input, organization and analyses of data, and undertaking of design and planning of field activities, including baseline assessment and field layout programs, salvage programs, and various surveys in different fields (i.e., vegetation, fish and fish habitat, wildlife and wildlife habitat, species at risk, watercourses and wetlands, and ecological communities).
- Work with Service Area team resources responsible for conducting environmental baseline surveys and impact assessment studies in conformance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Lead/manage projects,



including setting and managing client expectations, communication to the project team, cost tracking, invoice review, and milestone tracking.
- Anticipate and communicate when a task cannot be completed on time or on budget and develop solutions to such issues.

- Provides leadership to your dedicated Team on project and task management to maintain effective budget tracking and control, deliverable accountability, and client relationship/satisfaction.

- Delegate tasks among Project Leads, assigning responsibilities based on educational/experience background, skills and strengths to maximize efficiency.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of your team, monitoring progress and addressing concerns in accordance with company policies & standards.
- Motivate and coach team members by recognizing accomplishments, providing feedback, and encouraging professional growth.
- Provide feedback and play pivotal role in Employee Annual Reviews
- Foster open communication and resolve conflicts within the team, ensuring a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety procedures/policies and client expectations.
- Support, manage & review resources and budget tracking of Team-Led projects.
- Lead by Example – Modeling professionalism, ethical behaviour and effective problem-solving and decision-making.
- Liaise between team members and Senior Management to communicate needs, goals, concerns and continual feedback.
- Coordinate with other Team Leads to ensure seamless resource scheduling and collaboration on company priorities and project deliverables.

Job Requirements Requirements for the role of Team Lead are provided below:
- Science degree or diploma from a recognized university or college.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a small to medium professional service with emphasis on environmental consulting.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading small to medium sized team.
- Demonstrated experience in executing field based environmental consulting services.
- Demonstrated experience in obtaining regulatory approvals as they relate to projects in the environmental industry.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering technical reports.
- Demonstrated experience in leading projects within the environmental consulting industry.
- Registered with the BC College of Applied Biology or another recognized credential program (i.e., ASPB, Eco Canada, ABCFP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.)
- Proficient in GIS (ArcPro and/or QGIS)
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

Compensation McTavish offers a robust compensation package made up of the following:
- Base Salary $120,000-$160,000/annually
