The Technical Specialist – Asset Management is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the technical and operational performance of the company’s solar generation assets, including solar tracker systems and associated electrical, electronic, communications, instrumentation, and control systems.

This role combines technical asset management, performance analysis, field investigations, maintenance coordination, stakeholder management, and technical support to maximize asset availability, reliability, safety, and long-term performance. The Technical Specialist works closely with Asset Management, Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Legal, Operations & Maintenance (O&M;), EPC contractors, service providers, asset owners, developers, and other stakeholders.

The position will also support research and development activities related to the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of solar electrical generation and solar tracker systems and components.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Performance & Technical Analysis

- Monitor the operational and financial performance of assigned solar assets, including photovoltaic generation systems and solar tracker equipment.
- Analyze plant-level and component-level operational data to identify underperformance, inefficiencies, equipment degradation, abnormal operating conditions, and potential failures.
- Investigate performance deviations and operational issues using remote monitoring, SCADA, data analytics, site inspections, and field investigations.
- Identify root causes of electrical, electronic, mechanical, communications, instrumentation, and control system failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct research and development activities related to the feasibility, design, operation, reliability, and performance of solar electrical generation, communications, instrumentation, control systems, and solar tracker equipment.
- Develop and implement technical standards, operating procedures, and maintenance standards for solar tracker systems and associated equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase asset availability, energy production, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Field Operations, Inspections & Maintenance
- Supervise and inspect the installation, modification, testing, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic systems and equipment associated with solar tracker and generation systems.
- Plan and lead site visits, technical audits, inspections, troubleshooting activities, and field investigations.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment inspections, system upgrades, component replacements, and warranty repairs.




- Investigate electrical and electronic failures associated with solar tracker systems and other plant equipment.
- Supervise technicians, technologists, installers, analysts, and contractors during onsite investigations and technical activities.
- Coordinate with Asset Management, Engineering, Project Management, and O&M; teams to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of equipment upgrades, modifications, and reliability improvements.
- Travel to project sites as required to support inspections, troubleshooting, commissioning, audits, and other technical activities.

Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of asset operations, maintenance activities, inspections, equipment performance, failures, corrective actions, and warranty claims.
- Prepare technical reports, performance assessments, investigation reports, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare material cost estimates, project schedules, technical reports, and design specifications for electrical and electronic systems and equipment related to solar tracker products.
- Review plant and equipment documentation, drawings, specifications, test results, commissioning records, and technical data.
- Track technical issues and corrective actions through to resolution and verify the effectiveness of completed work.

Contracts, Procurement & Commercial Support
- Prepare and review technical components of contracts, service agreements, scopes of work, and maintenance agreements.
- Evaluate technical tenders and proposals for construction, equipment supply, maintenance, and technical services.
- Support procurement activities by developing technical specifications, reviewing vendor submissions, and assessing proposed equipment and services.
- Coordinate warranty claims and work with manufacturers, EPC contractors, O&M; providers, and suppliers to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled.
- Provide technical input to commercial discussions, dispute resolution, and claims management as required.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Act as a technical point of contact for stakeholders, including property owners, asset owners, developers, EPC contractors, utilities, investors, regulatory bodies, and service providers.
- Foster strong and collaborative working relationships with internal departments, including Finance, Engineering, Legal, Project Management, and Asset Management.
- Coordinate effectively with external contractors, O&M; providers, equipment manufacturers, consultants, and other service providers.
- Respond to stakeholder inquiries and technical concerns in a timely, professional, and solutions-oriented manner.
- Support the resolution of technical disputes and ensure stakeholder and contractual obligations are appropriately addressed.
- Represent the company professionally at project meetings, business meetings, industry events, and tradeshows as required.

Project Transition & Asset Onboarding
- Support the onboarding of newly acquired or completed solar projects into the Asset Management portfolio.




- Support the transition of projects from construction and commissioning into the O&M; and operational phase.
- Review project documentation, commissioning records, warranties, equipment information, operating procedures, and maintenance requirements during project handover.
- Identify outstanding technical, documentation, warranty, or performance issues prior to and following commercial operation.
- Work with Engineering, Construction, Project Management, and O&M; teams to establish effective operational processes for new sites.

Health, Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, standards, and requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Adhere to all company Health and Safety programs and applicable local, provincial/state, and federal laws and regulations when performing work.
- Follow and promote company safety rules and procedures throughout assigned areas and project sites.
- Ensure that contractors, technicians, and other personnel under supervision follow applicable safety requirements during onsite activities.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions and support corrective actions to maintain a safe working setting.
- Ensure technical activities are performed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.

General Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and responsiveness in all internal and external interactions.
- Participate in business meetings, industry conferences, tradeshows, and professional development activities as required.
- Travel to project sites and other locations as necessary

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in solar, renewable energy, electrical systems, asset management, engineering, or O&M.;
- Experience with utility-scale solar PV and/or solar tracker systems is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, instrumentation, controls, communications, and SCADA.
- Proven experience in performance monitoring, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and field investigations.
- Experience coordinating maintenance activities, contractors, EPCs, O&M; providers, and site inspections.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications, and equipment documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience preparing technical reports, scopes of work, specifications, cost estimates, or tender evaluations is an asset.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Commitment to Health & Safety and compliance with applicable regulations.
