Software QA Test Technician

? Location: Montreal, QC

About the Role

We are looking for a Software QA Test Technician to join our engineering and product development team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing and troubleshooting software products, identifying and characterizing defects, validating software revisions, and maintaining detailed QA and engineering documentation.

You will work closely with software and product development engineers to diagnose product failures and support high-quality software releases.

What You'll Do

- Execute software and application testing based on established procedures and test plans.
- Perform functional, operational, diagnostic, and troubleshooting tests.
- Test preliminary and prototype software using standard lab equipment and processes.
- Identify, reproduce, debug, and characterize software defects.
- Investigate test failures and assist in determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Document test configurations, test results, failures, and software changes.
- Prepare detailed information for product evaluation and test reports.
- Assist engineers in diagnosing and reproducing product failures.
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Review and test software/design changes and upgrades for each revision.
- Identify potential issues in test plans, software, and products.
- Review, validate, and update engineering documentation.
- Maintain accurate QA and laboratory records.
- Follow Agile methodologies and QA best practices.




- Support the software release process under management direction.
- Work with new technologies, tools, and testing approaches.

What We're Looking For

- AEC or DEC in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Software, or a related field.
- Equivalent vocational training and/or relevant practical experience will also be considered.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with software testing, troubleshooting, and defect characterization.

Technical Skills

- Microsoft Windows 10/11
- Linux: Ubuntu, Red Hat, SUSE
- PC Architecture
- Test Management Systems such as Testray or similar
- Python and/or Microsoft Visual Studio
- MS Word, MS Excel, and Microsoft Office
- Test documentation and defect tracking
- Software troubleshooting and diagnostics
