Trainer – Intermediate
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Work Arrangement: Onsite – 5 days per week
Contract Duration: October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2027
Potential Extension: Up to 6 months
Hours: 36.25 hours per week / 7.25 hours per day
Working Hours: 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM Alberta time, Monday to Friday
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Trainer – Intermediate to support enterprise training and learning initiatives within a large-scale ERP environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing learning needs and target audiences, developing role-based training strategies, designing and developing learning solutions, facilitating instructor-led and virtual training, collaborating with business and technical stakeholders, evaluating training effectiveness, and maintaining high-quality learning materials.
The role requires a solid combination of instructional design, adult learning, training facilitation, stakeholder management and learning solution development skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct learning needs assessments, audience analysis, role assessments, work-context analysis and requirements gathering.
- Define role-based training strategies and determine appropriate delivery approaches, including instructor-led, virtual, blended and self-paced learning.
- Design, develop, implement and maintain end-to-end learning solutions for diverse audiences.
- Develop instructor-led and virtual training, e-learning modules, videos, multimedia content, digital adoption resources, job aids, quick reference guides and performance-support materials.
- Apply adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, accessibility standards and user-centred design practices.
- Facilitate live and virtual training for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Translate complex systems and business processes into clear, practical language and workflows.
- Collaborate with program leadership, business process owners, subject-matter experts, vendors and other stakeholders to gather and validate requirements.
- Reconcile stakeholder feedback and confirm training readiness and delivery timelines.
- Manage multiple training initiatives, deliverables, dependencies, risks, priorities and timelines.
- Maintain training governance, quality assurance, review and approval processes,
version control and content maintenance.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness through learner feedback, assessments, performance measures and adoption indicators.
- Analyze evaluation results and continuously improve learning solutions.
- Use approved digital adoption, multimedia, collaboration, content-development and AI-enabled tools to improve learning design, development and delivery.
- Ensure learning materials meet applicable accessibility, privacy, quality and organizational standards.
- Provide coaching, guidance and mentorship to junior trainers and contributors.
Required Qualifications
Education
One of the following
- University graduation in a related field such as Adult Education, Instructional Design, Business Administration or a related discipline , plus at least 2 years of progressively responsible related experience ; OR
- Diploma in a related field plus at least 4 years of progressively responsible related experience ; OR
- An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
Education/experience equivalency may be considered where 1 year of education is equivalent to 2 years of experience .
Mandatory Experience
Candidates must have
- At least 2 years of experience conducting learning needs analysis, audience and role assessment, work-context analysis and requirements gathering to support practical, role-based learning solutions.
- At least 2 years of experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining end-to-end learning solutions, including instructor-led training, virtual training, e-learning, multimedia, job aids and performance-support resources.
- At least 2 years of experience facilitating instructor-led and virtual training for diverse technical and non-technical audiences using plain language, demonstrations, activities and learner-engagement techniques.
Preferred Qualifications The following experience would be considered an asset:
- At least 2 years designing or configuring digital adoption, embedded guidance, walkthroughs, contextual support or in-application performance support , using WalkMe or a comparable platform.
- At least 2 years developing accessible e-learning, instructional video, audio or multimedia content using Articulate 360, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia, Canva, Vyond, Adobe tools or comparable products.
- Experience gathering requirements, facilitating reviews, reconciling competing feedback and working with SMEs and stakeholders to deliver quality learning solutions on schedule.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools for instructional design, analysis, content development or communications while validating outputs for accuracy, accessibility, privacy and organizational standards.
- Experience using learner feedback, assessments, performance measures, adoption indicators or other evaluation methods to assess training effectiveness and improve learning solutions.
- Experience providing training for ERP or enterprise systems , including Finance, HCM, Payroll, Supply Chain, SAP, Oracle, Workday or comparable platforms.
Work Requirements
- The role is fully onsite in Edmonton, Alberta, 5 days per week .
- The successful candidate must work from within Canada .
- Standard working hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM Alberta time, Monday through Friday , excluding applicable holidays.
- A standard background check may be required before commencement.
- Mandatory organizational training, including privacy and security awareness training, will be required after onboarding.
Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is an experienced trainer/instructional designer who can independently take a learning requirement from analysis through design, development, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement . They should be comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex enterprise systems into practical learning experiences, managing multiple deliverables and maintaining high standards for accessibility, quality and consistency.
Candidates with ERP training, digital adoption, e-learning development and modern learning technology experience will be particularly well positioned for the role.
