Duties
- Long-haul trucking throughout Canada and The United States; Cross border travel required.
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight over designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues, including basic automotive repairs when necessary
- Manage freight documentation accurately, including delivery logs, manifests, and shipping paperwork
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate deliveries and pickups
- Assist with forklift operation for loading/unloading cargo at warehouses or distribution centers
- Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of the vehicle fleet in compliance with company policies
Skills
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and other industrial machinery
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety standards in transportation
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshoot vehicle issues quickly
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, safety regulations, and route planning
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients
- Physical stamina for long hours on the road, lifting heavy loads when required
