Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta (CPAA) is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice-President of Finance & Operations to join our senior leadership team in Calgary. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Vice-President provides executive leadership across Finance, Operations, and Human Resources & Administration and plays an important role in advancing CPAA’s strategic priorities and long-term sustainability. We are looking for a collaborative, forward-thinking leader who combines strong financial expertise with operational and people leadership and can translate strategy into effective systems, accountable teams, and measurable results.
What You’ll Do
As Vice-President of Finance & Operations, you will:
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to implement CPAA’s strategic plan and organizational priorities.
- Provide executive oversight of Finance, Operations, and Human Resources & Administration, leading and developing the managers responsible for these functions.
- Lead annual budgeting, multi-year financial planning, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, analysis, and organizational financial performance.
- Oversee financial controls, accounting practices, the annual external audit, banking, investments, reserves, and compliance with applicable regulatory, charitable, tax, funding, and contractual requirements.
- Provide financial analysis, reporting, and recommendations to the CEO, Finance and Audit Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Translate strategic priorities into operational plans, KPIs, measurable outcomes, and forward-looking recommendations.
- Oversee CPAA’s social enterprise activities, including operational performance, financial sustainability, partnerships,
and opportunities for growth.
- Strengthen organizational systems, processes, risk management, business continuity, health and safety, and operational effectiveness.
- Build robust relationships with community partners, funders, government representatives, service providers, and other key stakeholders.
What You Bring The successful candidate will bring:
- A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, or a related field. Equivalent education and senior leadership experience may be considered.
- 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience, including responsibility for multiple departments or organizational functions.
- Demonstrated senior-level financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, audited financial statements, external audits, financial controls, and cash flow management.
- Experience working with a volunteer Board of Directors and Board committees, including preparing and presenting information to support governance and decision-making.
- Experience managing or overseeing government funding agreements.
- Strong strategic, operational, financial, and people leadership skills, with sound analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of organizational risk, regulatory compliance, human resources, and governance,
with a demonstrated ability to improve systems, processes, performance, and accountability.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a high degree of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience with Salesforce.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- A CPA designation and experience with QuickBooks are assets. Experience in the non-profit, disability, social services, health, or community-based sector is preferred.

Working Conditions
This position is primarily based in CPAA’s Calgary office, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional travel within Alberta and evening or weekend availability may be required to support meetings, programs, events, and operational needs.
A Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, is required as a condition of employment.
