Welder / Fabricator

We are a busy and growing heavy fabrication and structural steel company seeking experienced Welder / Fabricators for long-term, steady employment on major construction, fabrication and industrial projects throughout Metro Vancouver.

This position is intended for experienced structural welders who are confident working with heavy steel and can consistently produce high-quality work in demanding fabrication and construction environments.

A valid CWB 4-Position FCAW ticket and valid CWB 4-Position SMAW ticket are mandatory for this position.

Responsibilities

- Perform structural welding and heavy steel fabrication
- Perform FCAW and SMAW welding in all four positions
- Fit, tack and fabricate structural steel components
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and welding symbols
- Perform accurate measurements, layout and fit-up
- Operate oxy-fuel and plasma cutting equipment
- Use grinders, torches, plasma cutters and other fabrication equipment safely
- Perform rigging, lifting and material-handling duties
- Inspect completed work and maintain high welding-quality standards
- Work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and productivity
- Follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements and job-site regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized and secure work area
- Work independently and as part of a fabrication or construction team

Mandatory Qualifications

Applicants must have





- Valid CWB 4-Position FCAW certification
- Valid CWB 4-Position SMAW/Stick certification
- Minimum 5 years of professional welding experience
- Strong structural steel welding experience
- Excellent FCAW and SMAW welding ability
- Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings and welding symbols
- Strong fit-up, cutting and fabrication skills
- Experience with rigging and material handling
- Ability to pass a practical weld test if required
- Reliable transportation
- Strong attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work safely in physically demanding environments

Preferred Experience Priority will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Heavy structural steel fabrication
- Shipyard or marine construction
- Bridges and large industrial structures
- Pile driving or marine construction
- Heavy equipment or industrial fabrication
- High-volume fabrication shops
- Field welding and construction sites
- Large structural beams, columns, plates and heavy components

Relevant safety tickets and additional welding, rigging or fabrication certifications are considered assets.
