Nanaimo Foodshare is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-minded professional to coordinate the Employability and Inclusion stream of our job readiness and work-experience program.

This is a hands-on, client-focused role where you’ll support participants facing multiple barriers to employment and help them build confidence, skills, and connections to entering the workforce.

You will also collaborate with local employers and community partners to create positive work experiences, strengthen employer-participant relationships, and reduce employment barriers related to disability, mental health, and neurodiversity.

This 19-week Service Canada–funded program includes paid training, workshops, certifications, and 8 weeks of paid community work experience.

What You’ll Do

- Recruit, interview, and assess individuals facing barriers to employment
- Support a series of small groups of participants (8–10) through job readiness training
- Facilitate workshops on communication, teamwork, confidence, and workplace skills
- Support resumes, cover letter, interviews, and goal setting
- Coordinate job shadowing, employer visits, and outreach activities and Work Experience Placements
- Collaborate with case managers, support workers, and referral partners
- Track progress, outcomes, and program reporting
- Update and maintain promotional materials and participant application processes

What We’re Looking For

- Experience in coaching, teaching, or workforce development
- Understanding of employment barriers and experience working with people with diverse abilities
- Confident group facilitation and workshop delivery skills
- A professional with well developed personal boundaries




- Preference for supervision with a direct communication style
- Training in trauma informed and inclusive support approaches
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Organized, adaptable, and calm in energetic environments
- Class 5 licence and vehicle (asset)

Compensation & Hours

Wage: $25 per hour

Hours: 28 - 32.5 hours per week

Wage subject to review and confirmation following successful completion of the probationary period.

Job Types: Part-time

Contract length: 6 months
