Role Overview
Fitch Ratings' U.S. and Canada Corporates Rating group is looking for a Senior Director to join our Energy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating corporate debt issuers while contributing to Fitch’s reputation for timely and insightful research that informs debt capital market decisions. This role entails managing a team of 2-3 analysts and also serving as a primary analyst in the U.S. and Canadian Oil & Gas team. Qualitative credentials will weigh meaningfully in the selection of the candidate. A healthy sense of intellectual curiosity is critical, along with a willingness and ability to attack and explain topics of analytical complexity. Have extensive corporate credit experience, with strong capabilities in financial analysis and modelingHave a comprehensive understanding of fixed income/debt capital markets, with varied experience in both investment grade and leveraged finance a plusHave a network of skilled relationships within the debt capital markets and energy sectorsHave proven success in nurturing talent and developing junior analystsWhat Fitch Offers

Cover a portfolio of 15-20 of E&P;, Refining, and Oil Field Services companies across investment‑grade and speculative‑grade ratingsArticulate Fitch’s credit views and sector outlook in meetings, conference calls, and industry roundtables,
as well as in written research, in an engaging and dynamic mannerBe a highly visible presence for the external stakeholders in the ratings process, including industry management teams, private equity sponsors, buy‑side and sell‑side analysts, and the mediaParticipate in the evaluation of other credits within Corporates, as well as other related credit groupsFoster a positive and cooperative work environment in the Energy team, and contribute to the overall ethos of the U.S. and Canada Corporates rating team in a manner that prioritizes and advances Fitch’s strategic goalsRequirements
10+ years relevant experience in a capital markets and/or credit analysis role which must include some coverage or knowledge of the energy sectorA keen sense of intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning and a proven ability to dissect and articulate complex analytical topicsExceptional written and verbal communication skillsExperience managing, mentoring and developing people and teams and a collaborative approach to a team‑based work environmentThe agility to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing prioritiesA Bachelor's degree is essential;
an MBA, other advanced degrees, or a CFA designation is a plusSome travel is necessary, as is adherence to Fitch's Onsite Flex time in office policyFOR TORONTO ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $200,000 and $230,000 per year. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job‑related factors. Base pay is one part of Fitch’s total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long‑term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
