We are seeking talented individuals who want to help build and scale the next generation of clean energy infrastructure.About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Controller to join the CarbonFree Group. We’re looking for a person who is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and energized by building strong financial foundations in a growing, complex workplace. This is a role for someone who goes beyond and thinks critically, anticipates challenges, and takes ownership of outcomes.You’ll play a key role in overseeing core accounting and office operations, financial controls, and reporting processes that support a rapidly growing business. From scaling financial infrastructure and improving processes to partnering closely with leadership on planning and decision‑making, you’ll have meaningful influence across the organization. This is a place for doers who roll up their sleeves, adapt quickly, and take pride in creating clarity, rigor, and trust through their work.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliationsDevelop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial modelsImplement and maintain internal controlsManage GST/HST/QST filings and intercompany accruals,
invoices, and netting.Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to leadershipOversee daily office operations to ensure efficiency and productivityManage office supplies, equipment, vendors, and service contractsCoordinate facilities management, including maintenance and lease agreementsAdminister employee onboarding paperwork and HR documentation in collaboration with HR or leadershipQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field requiredCPA or CMA preferred5+ years of progressive accounting experienceExperience in small-to-mid‑sized organizations highly desirable.Strong knowledge of accounting standardsProficiency in accounting software (e.G., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)Advanced Excel skillsStrong analytical and problem‑solving abilitiesExcellent organizational and time‑management skillsHigh level of integrity and attention to detailStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentThis role is based in the midtown Toronto office with a requirement of regular in‑office collaboration.
