Role OverviewThe Victim Services Navigator is responsible for delivering the Provincial Victim Services Program, ensuring compliance with the Victim’s Rights and Services Act, the Criminal Code of Canada and victim‑related provisions of other federal and provincial statutes.ResponsibilitiesMaintain a caseload of highly sensitive files, providing support to meet clients’ needs and making referrals to specialists.Provide information regarding the criminal justice system/process and assist clients in submitting documents.Liaise with Crown, Police, Correctional Services and community organizations to coordinate, deliver and enhance services.Ensure confidentiality of client information and accurate entry into the victim services case‑management system.Use a bring‑forward system to monitor and act on time‑sensitive files.Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor’s degree (typically in the Social Sciences) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination considered.Experience in client assessment, interviewing techniques, case management and computer skills.Knowledge of the criminal justice system, Victims’ Rights and Services Act, Criminal Code of Canada and the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights.Excellent oral and written communication skills, valuable organizational ability and strong interpersonal skills.Empathy, warmth, tact and sound judgment with self‑confidence and decisiveness.Reliable transportation for multiple court locations; ability to speak Frenchconsidered an asset.Assessment will be through written exams, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s)
