Sinai Health is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Supervisor, Biomedical Engineering to provide day-to-day operational leadership and technical oversight. Reporting to a Clinical Engineering Program Lead, the Supervisor ensures the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of technical services across the organization. This role serves as the primary operational leader for the Biomedical Engineering Technologists, coordinating daily activities, prioritizing service delivery, supporting complex technical issues, promoting regulatory compliance, and fostering staff development. The Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring medical equipment is maintained in a secure and reliable condition to support patient care while driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and a culture of safety.In This Role You WillCoordinate and supervise the day-to-day activities of Biomedical Engineering TechnologistsAssign, prioritize, and monitor service requests, preventive maintenance activities, incoming inspections, and equipment deploymentsServe as the primary escalation point for complex medical equipment repairs and technical issuesProvide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to Biomedical Engineering Technologists and Support SpecialistsEnsure departmental activities comply with applicable standards, regulations, and organizational policies, including CSA, Health Canada, Accreditation Canada, AAMI, ISO, and hospital requirementsIdentify training and professional development needs and support staff growthParticipate in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee development activitiesIdentify and address workplace hazards, including equipment, tools, storage practices, carts, lifting activities, and Biomed shop organizationAssist in managing operational expenditures related to parts, repairs, service contracts,



and vendor supportMonitor department work queues and key performance indicators to ensure timely completion of workAssist with evaluations of new medical technologies and provide recommendations regarding serviceability, reliability, maintainability, and complianceIdentify opportunities to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and equipment reliabilityProvide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and mentorship to Biomedical Engineering Technologists and Support SpecialistsParticipate in and manage on-call rotationsWrite, review and update policies and proceduresPerform other duties consistent with the job classification as requiredJob RequirementsDiploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline10 years of progressive experience in biomedical/clinical engineering or healthcare technology managementPrevious supervisory, team lead, or senior technologist experienceDemonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting a broad range of medical devices, including patient monitoring systems, ventilators, anesthesia equipment, defibrillators, infusion systems, surgical equipment, and other clinical technologiesPreferredBachelor's degree in EngineeringCertified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) designationMembership in OACETT or an equivalent professional associationSkills or KnowledgeStrong knowledge of medical device technology, healthcare technology management practices, and applicable regulatory standardsDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skillsExcellent organizational and workload management abilitiesStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsExperience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to build collaborative relationships with clinical staff, physicians, vendors, and support departmentsAbility to perform effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with competing prioritiesJob Type: Full TimeHours: 37.5 hours per week.
