With operations in both Canada and the United States, we partner with clients across the electrical utilities, renewable energy, and industrial sectors to design, build, and maintain the critical infrastructure systems communities and industries rely on.What You'll DoReporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Senior Commissioning Technologist is responsible for commissioning, testing and maintaining primary and secondary power equipment in the field. This includes maintaining medium‑to‑high‑voltage substation power delivery equipment such as breakers, switchgears, circuit breakers, relays and transformers. The Senior Commissioning Technologist also involves mentoring and educating junior technologists, reading and interpreting prints, risk management strategies and promoting industry best practices. The Senior Commissioning Technologist plays a leading role in setting up and operating both standard and specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze the performance of power delivery equipment on‑site.Key ResponsibilitiesPromote and maintain a robust safety culture alongside all members of the construction crewCommission and test high voltage equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, manual and motor operated switches, current transformers, voltage transformers, capacitor banks and circuit switchersCommission protection and control relays (SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB)Commission control circuits for protection, indication and monitoring systemsPerform acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical equipment ranging from 600 V to 500 kVInstallation, commissioning and maintenance of protection and control equipment,



including SCADA in medium to high‑voltage transmission substationsWork with protection schemes such as differential, distance, line protections, transformer protections and overcurrent protectionsInterpret electrical drawings and schematics, analyze test results and recommend corrective actionsWork with high voltage equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, switches and control circuits for protection, indication and monitoring systemsSupervise, mentor and train junior techniciansBe able to work with various types of manufacturer's test equipment:Omicron CMC356, CT analyzer, Cibano, CPC100, Votano, TestranoDoble M4100, SFRAMegger megohmmeter and 10 A DuctorBroman 100 A DuctorMegger TTRDilo and SMC gas analyzersVLF and AC Hi‑PotsFull‑time, permanent position.Employees based in Calgary work locally within Southern Alberta, while those based in Edmonton work locally within Northern Alberta.There are also opportunities to travel to other regions if interested.Additional InformationThis position is designated as safety‑sensitive, making employment contingent upon the successful completion of pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal and general background checks.Schedule & CompensationSchedule rotations include 4 days on / 4 days off or 8 days on / 6 days off, etc.Standard workdays are 10 hours (7:00 a.M.
