Make a difference as a Shelter Support Worker with Red Door, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness. This role involves client support and crisis intervention at a Gender-Based Violence Shelter.
Red Door is seeking a part-time Shelter Support Worker for a temporary assignment. Your mission will be to facilitate emergency intakes, support residents, and manage daily living issues. You'll also conduct room checks, oversee common areas, lead house meetings, and maintain cleanliness and order in the shelter environment.
Key Responsibilities: • Conduct emergency intakes for recent residents • Assist clients through feedback and crisis intervention • Perform daily cleanliness checks of rooms • Lead weekly house meetings addressing resident concerns • Maintain necessary supplies and screen visitors
Requirements: • Social services diploma or equivalent experience • Knowledge of Toronto's social service system • Ability to handle and de-escalate abusive behavior • Reliability and teamwork skills • Good communication skills for client interaction
