We're seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator / Project Manager to join a well-established and growing organization in the heavy civil construction industry.This is a senior-level, hands-on role responsible for managing the complete project lifecycle — from identifying opportunities and preparing competitive bids to overseeing execution and successful delivery. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex infrastructure projects including earthworks, road reconstruction, sewer & watermain, bridge work, and site development.Position OverviewThe Senior Estimator / Project Manager plays a critical role in both pre-construction and operations. You will lead the estimating process, develop accurate and competitive tenders, and transition seamlessly into managing awarded projects. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, financial acumen, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify and evaluate upcoming bid opportunities through market awareness and industry relationshipsReview drawings, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor pricingDevelop and submit tenders, proposals, and quotations within strict deadlinesUtilize estimating software and tools to build comprehensive bid packagesAnalyze risks, contingencies, and value engineering opportunitiesConduct post-bid follow-ups and participate in negotiations as requiredProject Management & ExecutionOversee the full lifecycle of awarded projects, from kickoff through closeoutDevelop project schedules, budgets, and execution strategies in collaboration with internal teamsCoordinate with site supervisors, subcontractors, consultants, and clientsMonitor project performance, cost control,
and progress against timelinesIdentify risks and proactively implement corrective actionsEnsure all work meets contract requirements, specifications, and quality standardsManage change orders, scope adjustments, and claims as neededTrack project budgets, forecasts, and profitabilityReview and approve project-related expendituresWork closely with accounting and administrative teams to ensure accurate reportingMaintain detailed project documentation, including cost tracking and progress reportsStakeholder Communication & LeadershipAct as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and internal stakeholdersLead regular project meetings and provide status updatesBuild and maintain strong working relationships across all project participantsSupport and mentor junior estimators and project staff as requiredQualifications & Experience RequiredMinimum 10+ years of experience in estimating and/or project management within civil constructionStrong background in heavy civil projects (earthworks, roads, sewer & watermain, infrastructure)Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related fieldProven track record of successfully delivering projects from tender to completionAdvanced knowledge of construction methodologies, contracts, and specificationsHigh attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft 365 and estimating/project management softwarePreferredExperience with estimating software (e.G., SharpeSoft or equivalent)Robust industry network of subcontractors and suppliersFamiliarity with municipal and provincial project requirementsWhat's OfferedCompany vehicleRetirement savings program (RRSP/DPSP)Performance-based bonus structureOpportunity to work on large-scale, high-impact infrastructure projectsStable, growing organization with long-term career progression
