DescriptionPosition SummaryUnder the supervision of the Area Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of contracted assets (roadways, vegetation, etc.) as directed by the Area Supervisor.Pay range: $25–$27 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesRemoval of snow and ice by using snow removal equipmentAssist with loading and unloading of winter materialsMaintain highway and other surfaces by removal of litter and debrisOperate vehicles and equipment as required: for surface and right‑of‑way maintenance to control vegetation appearance and growth.As RequiredMay assist with traffic control setup and removalTransport crew and equipment to work sitesRequired to be available for emergency response as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Willing to travelAll other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEffectively communicate (in English); both orally and in writing with co‑workers and supervisor.Perform basic mathematical functions.Consistently follow all policies and procedures.Understand instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Capable of working in an environment in which demands, and priorities change rapidly.Work with hand and power tools, traffic control devices and mobile equipment such as tractors, graders, mowers, sweepers, augers and other types of equipment used for surface and right of way maintenance and repair.Highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability.Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non‑routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss,



injury or accident.Ability to communicate with co‑workers’ safety instructions.Ability to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using tools and equipment, while driving or operating equipment.You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job.Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentMinimum 1‑year work experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair, maintenance or landscaping (outdoor work)Experience in operating a loader (asset)Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and acceptable driving record.Successful completion of training in traffic control methods, first aid, transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS and job‑related aspects of Occupational Health.Work Conditions / Physical DemandsPhysical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk on a wide range of surfaces; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric powered tools and equipment. Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job,



the employee is routinely exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles.
