Job DescriptionPosition Overview: Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for completing repairs to hospital facilities and equipment. Tasks are varied and could entail repair of dish machine, garburator, cartwash, pumps, fans, compressor, rotary equipment, piping systems, ground equipment, and diesel generators. Operation of the hospital power plant including the heating, ventilation and air conditioning, medical gases, fire alarm and domestic hot water systems is an essential part of this position. Journeyman Tradesman/Plant operator is required to operate the Building Automation System (BAS), perform water tests, diesel generator tests, and efficiently operate chillers, boilers, cooling towers and the associated heating and cooling loops. From time to time, Journeyman Tradesperson/Plant Operators may be required to perform such functions as grass cutting, snow removal and other essential labour functions. You may be scheduled at the General or Birchmount campus based on departmental needs.RequirementsValid Red Seal Ontario Certificate of Qualification and/or a valid Operating Engineering licensePrevious experience working in plant operationsDemonstrates ability to read, write, speak and follow directions in EnglishAble to read blueprints and follow sketches and oral & written assignmentsCompetent in the use of building automation systems and preventative maintenance techniquesDemonstrates ability to work independently with minimum supervisionDemonstrates good interpersonal, communication and customer service skillsPhysical capabilities to perform duties as outlined by the physical demandsDemonstrates values consistent with Scarborough Health Network (SHN)
