This role provides leadership across infrastructure engineering, cloud platforms, system and application administration, database services, networking, and operational security execution.This leader works in close partnership with peer leaders across Security, Desktop and Application Management, and Change and Incident Management. The Security function defines security strategy, standards, and governance, while this role is accountable for implementing, operating, and sustaining those controls within infrastructure and platform environments.The Director is responsible for building and leading a department capable of supporting business as usual operations, deployments around the clock, and providing technical resources for project delivery, ensuring platforms remain stable, secure, scalable, and cost effective while enabling ongoing change.As oneavisoWe Care - You do the right thing for clients, partners and colleagues. You hold yourself accountable and continuously look for ways to improveWhat your day looks likeResponsible for the day to day operations of all on premises and cloud infrastructure environments, including compute, storage, networking, databases, middleware, and core platformsProvides leadership and direction to managers and senior technical leads responsible for infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, system administration, application administration, DBAs, networking, and operational securityAccountable for operational execution of security controls, ensuring platforms align with security standards, policies,
and architectural direction defined by the Security teamPartners with Desktop and Application Management leaders to ensure infrastructure and platforms effectively support end user and application requirementsPartners with Change and Incident Management teams to ensure deployments are controlled, risks are understood, and incidents are resolved effectivelyDesigns, implements and oversees an operational support model that leverages a third party provider for off hours monitoring, ticket triage, and emergency support, while retaining accountability for escalation models, hand offs, and overall operational effectivenessEnsures availability of technical resources for project delivery, balancing BAU operational demands with project commitments and timelinesOwns platform availability, performance, capacity, resilience, and recoverability, including high availability and disaster recovery capabilitiesOversees deployment, configuration, patching, lifecycle management, and decommissioning of infrastructure and platform servicesEnsures effective monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational response, driving continuous improvement in reliability and operational maturityLeads resource planning and workforce management, including skills development, succession planning, and capacity alignment to demandOwns cloud and infrastructure cost management, including forecasting, optimization, vendor management, and financial accountabilityEstablishes and enforces operational standards, runbooks, automation, and best practices across infrastructure and platform servicesProvides clear direction, prioritization, and accountability to managers and teams delivering operational and project outcomesActs as an escalation point for significant operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and explicit communication to stakeholdersSupports audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities related to infrastructure, operational controls, and security execution; facilitates developmentof relevant IT operational policies, standards and proceduresRequirementsYour experience and skillsBachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience10+ years of progressive IT experience, with 5+ years in infrastructure or operations leadership roles managing managers or senior leadsProven experience operating hybrid environments, including on premises infrastructure and public cloud platforms (e.G., Azure and/or AWS)Strong background in infrastructure and platform operations, including compute, storage, networking, databases, and middlewareExperience leading teams across systems administration, application administration, DBAs, networking, and operational securityDemonstrated experience building and leading teams that support 24x7 operational environments and frequent deployment activityStrong understanding of incident, problem, and change management,
