Job DescriptionWSP's Resources subsector, part of our Energy, Resources & Industry business line, supports mining and heavy industrial clients across Canada. Our teams deliver engineering and project execution excellence across the full project lifecycle—from conceptual studies and detailed design to commissioning, optimization, and beyond.The OpportunityBased in one of our Ontario offices—ideally Northern Ontario, Greater Toronto Area, or Saskatoon—as a Lead I&C; Engineer, you will serve as a senior subject‐matter expert in instrumentation and controls engineering for both current construction and brownfield mining, metals and other heavy industrial projects. Your work will influence project outcomes from concept through completion, helping clients operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.Your ImpactLead the design and act as the senior technical subject matter expert on the delivery of instrumentation and control systems for mining and heavy industrial facilitiesOversee control philosophy, system architecture, and functional specifications for complex process systemsCollaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to ensure fully integrated project solutionsDrive innovation by applying advanced automation, digitalization, and control technologiesProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality reviews for project teamsSupport project execution through all phases—from concept to commissioning and operational optimizationEngage with clients to understand operational needs and deliver tailored, high‐value engineering solutionsEnsure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards across all deliverablesMust comply with WSP and client Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)



policies at all timesThe Skills That Set You ApartAt least 18+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial facilitiesDegree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering disciplineProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in CanadaExtensive experience leading and delivering instrumentation and controls engineering within mining or heavy industrial sectorsStrong expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA systems, and process automation platformsProven ability to develop control narratives, P&IDs;, loop diagrams, and I/O listsExperience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support in industrial environmentsStrong understanding of safety systems, hazardous area classification, and applicable codes and standardsAbility to lead complex projects, mentor junior staff, and maintain high technical excellenceCompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 - $179,100MB & ON: $123,300 - $169,800NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $122,100 - $162,200DisclosureThe final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
