Join IWK Health as a Social Worker (MSW) in Pediatric Critical Care. This role focuses on family-centered care for children and youth dealing with critical health challenges in Halifax.
As a key member of the PICU Social Work team, you'll work in a full-time capacity, providing vital counseling and psychosocial assessments. Your expertise in trauma-informed care and grief support will be invaluable as you assist families navigating acute illness. Collaboration with healthcare professionals ensures that patients receive comprehensive and effective services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide counseling to families facing acute and chronic illnesses • Conduct psychosocial assessments and brief therapeutic interventions • Liaise with health and government services for resource acquisition • Supervise MSW student placements and support their development • Participate in interdisciplinary teams and committees as required
Requirements: • Master's Degree in Social Work mandatory • Current license or eligibility with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers • At least two years of clinical social work experience • Familiarity with Child and Family Services Act essential • Robust interpersonal and communication skills required
