Electrical Field Specialist (Industrial Systems)We are currently seeking an Electrical Field Specialist to join Spartan Controls’ Reliability team. This role can be based out of Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, or Grande Prairie, with the flexibility to work remotely while frequently supporting customers on‑site.In this position, you will play a key role in delivering commissioning, startup, and reliability solutions across a variety of industrial environments.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical ExecutionLead MCC and VFD commissioning and startup activities, including:Verification of motor control systemsVFD programming and configurationSetup of intelligent devices such as soft starters (RVSS), overloads, meters, and breakersConduct pre‑shipment testing, onsite commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical and control systemsInterpret electrical drawings and specifications, applying solid knowledge of:Three‑phase power systemsTransformers and control circuitsCSA‑compliant installationsUtilize diagnostic tools (e.G., multimeters, meggers, ductors, TTRs) to identify and resolve issues efficientlyReliability & SafetySupport and enhance electrical safety practices, including LOTO, PPE, grounding, and arc flash proceduresPerform risk assessments and ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.G., Canadian Electrical Code, CSA guidelines)Develop and execute condition monitoring and predictive maintenance programs,



including:Motor circuit analysis (MCSA)Vibration analysisInfrared thermographyPower quality testingTeam & Knowledge SharingCollaborate with internal teams to support lifecycle services, including startup and commissioningProvide technical guidance and deliver training to both internal teams and customersCustomer EngagementPartner with customers, sales, and service teams to deliver high‑quality on‑site supportPrepare clear and timely technical reports and documentationMaintain strong communication with stakeholders while ensuring alignment with safety standardsTravel as needed to support project execution and client requirementsQualifications & SkillsDegree or diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technology, or equivalent experienceTrade certification (e.G., Journeyman Electrician) is considered an assetStrong background in industrial electrical systems and troubleshootingHands‑on experience with electrical schematics and control systemsProven ability to work independently in industrial and client‑facing environmentsStrong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skillsSelf‑motivated with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindsetWillingness to travel on short noticeValid driver’s license requiredWe are an equal opportunity employer.
