Senior Manager, Manufacturing & Operations
Position Summary
A collaborative life sciences organization offering opportunities for impact and growth is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Manufacturing & Operations to provide operational leadership within a regulated manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing & Operations or executive leadership team, this role is responsible for driving manufacturing performance, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and team development while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing, production planning, facilities, and operational activities to achieve business and production objectives.
- Drive operational performance by improving productivity, efficiency, quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
- Support the development and execution of manufacturing and operational strategies to enable business growth, capacity planning, and scalability.
- Build a high-performance team culture through effective leadership, accountability, coaching, performance management, and talent development.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, process optimization, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Oversee production planning, inventory management, purchasing coordination, supplier performance, and resource utilization.
- Partner closely with Quality, Engineering, and R&D; to support new product introductions, technology transfers, process validation,
and regulatory requirements.
- Establish, monitor, and report key operational performance indicators (KPIs), using data to identify opportunities and drive improvements.
- Support departmental budgeting, capital planning, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Ensure manufacturing and operational activities comply with GMP, ISO 13485, Health Canada, FDA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Identify and resolve operational issues, risks, and constraints while escalating strategic or significant matters as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of progressive manufacturing and operations experience, preferably within a regulated industry such as biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, or a similar environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading manufacturing operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, ERP/MRP systems, quality systems, production planning, and operational KPIs.
- Experience working in a GMP, ISO 13485, FDA, Health Canada, or similarly regulated setting.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to translate business objectives into practical operational plans and measurable results.
- Lean Six Sigma certification is considered an asset.
