This position is ideal for a candidate with a solid foundation in accounting and a keen interest in taxation.ResponsibilitiesUS Sales Tax Compliance:Review taxes computed on Canadian and U.S. invoices and master the process of correcting errors.Regularly review and reconcile collected taxes and prepare submissions to tax authorities.Collect exemption certificates, update the U.S tax software and maintain records to uphold accurate tax calculations.Cross-functional Collaboration:Work closely with the Invoicing team to ensure accurate invoicing, including proper general ledger coding, sales taxes calculation and dimensions reporting.Facilitate the resolution of invoicing issues, billing corrections and clean-up of Accounts Receivable to ensure timely collections.Assist the Invoicing and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams with aging and lease reports,
and other departmental report requests.Provide support for Invoicing and AR team and assist during month-ends and as needed for vacation coverage.Support the revenue accountant by identifying and correcting transactions with revenue recognition issues.Liaise with external vendors, customers, and tax authorities to address any issues related to sales taxes.General Accounting:Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities in relation to AR, GST, PST, US sales taxes and related receivable/payable accounts.Provide analysis and explanations of variances in tax payments and reconciliations.Aid in the preparation of audit schedules and collaborate with external auditors during the audit process.Process Improvement:Recommend and implement improvements to sales tax processes and reporting.Assist in developing and documenting best practices related to tax compliance.About YouDegree in Accounting, ideally with credits towards professional designation.Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, with emphasis on the order to cash cycle.Competence in U.S. sales taxes, Canadian GST/HST/PST and returns submission.Experience working in a Canadian business environment with cross-border sales.On the job knowledge of
