Our products and services are helping find the hydrocarbons that power our world today, and the metals and minerals required for the energy transition of tomorrow.About the Role:We're hiring a Procurement Manager to build this function from the ground up: designing and implementing procure-to-pay (P2P) processes, consolidating and rationalizing our vendor base, negotiating better commercial terms, and establishing the policies and controls needed to support a scaling, multi-jurisdictional manufacturing, technology, service business. This is a hands-on, builder role, you will personally run sourcing events, negotiate contracts, ensure on-time delivery, and stand-up processes, not just oversee them.Key Responsibilities:Procure-to-Pay Process DesignDesign and implement a formal P2P process from requisition through payment, integrated with existing AP/accounting workflowsEstablish purchase requisition, approval, and PO issuance workflows with appropriate spend thresholds and controlsPartner with Accounting to ensure procurement data flows cleanly into AP, GL coding, and financial reportingSupport implementation of inventory/warehouse management software as operations scaleVendor Management & ConsolidationBuild and maintain a centralized vendor master and spend database — starting as a data exercise, normalizing and merging spend currently siloed across entities into one cross-entity viewConduct a spend analysis across direct materials/components and indirect categories (software, services, contractors, facilities, travel, professional services) to identify consolidation opportunitiesDevelop a preferred/approved vendor list by category, reducing vendor sprawl and maverick spendEstablish vendor onboarding, due diligence, and offboarding procedures,



with clear ongoing ownership of the vendor master so fragmentation doesn't rebuild itself as the business growsOwn day-to-day vendor performance — on-time delivery, scorecards, service levels, and periodic business reviews for key suppliers — partnering with each entity's local finance resource rather than running this purely from CalgarySourcing & NegotiationLead RFP/RFQ processes for major spend categories, particularly components feeding unit buildsNegotiate and renegotiate pricing, payment terms, and service levels with new and incumbent vendors, prioritizing high-value or high-risk relationshipsBuild category strategies for the largest spend areas, balancing cost, quality, lead time, supply risk, and long-term supply chain resilience as we scale productionGovernance, Policy & ComplianceDraft and implement a formal procurement policy (approval authority matrix, sole-source rules, competitive bid thresholds, conflict-of-interest guidelines)Establish contract management practices — templates, standard terms, renewal tracking, and a central contract repositoryBuild controls appropriate for our expanding multi-jurisdictional footprint — currency, tax, FCPA, and sanctions/screening implications, including enhanced due diligence in higher-risk jurisdictions and basic safeguards against duplicate payments and fraud — in coordination with Finance and external tax/legal advisors on cross-border arrangementsAlign procurement processes with ISO 9001 requirements for evaluation, selection, and monitoring of external vendorsLead change management across our autonomous entities/segments to drive adoption of central controlsCross-Functional PartnershipWork closely with Manufacturing/Operations to understand component/material requirements, lead times, and supply risk for unit builds,



including hands-on support for site mobilizations and equipment stand-upsPartner with Accounting on payment terms, cash flow impact of vendor terms, and AP process efficiencyAct as the primary point of contact for vendor escalations and commercial disputesRepresent procurement/P2P requirements in the upcoming ERP implementation, ensuring the vendor master and category taxonomy migrate cleanly into the new systemMust Have:8+ years of progressive procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience, including direct ownership of vendor negotiations and contract managementDemonstrated experience building or significantly formalizing a procurement function (not just operating within an existing mature one)Experience with both direct/materials procurement and indirect/services procurementStrong negotiation track record with measurable cost or terms improvementsComfortable operating with minimal existing infrastructure — this is a build, not an optimizeExcellent cross-functional communication skills; able to work credibly with manufacturing/operations leaders and finance/accountingAssets to Have:Experience in a manufacturing, hardware, or industrial technology environmentExperience procuring across multiple countries/currencies and working with international vendors or contractorsExperience in a high-growth private/PE- or VC-backed companyWhat Success Looks Like (First 12 Months):Vendor master and spend database established with categorized spend visibility, and cross-entity spend consolidated into a single view with vendor duplication resolved on a meaningful subsetFormal procurement policy and approval matrix implemented and adoptedTop 20-30 vendors by spend reviewed, with consolidation and/or renegotiation completed on a meaningful subsetPreferred vendor list established for at least the top 3-5 spend categoriesP2P workflow documented and operating, integrated with APOn-time delivery performance for key vendors tracked and improved in support of manufacturing/operationsMeasurable cost savings or improved payment terms on renegotiated contractsWorking at GeologicAI you will enjoy the following benefits:A casual and fun work environmentExtended health and dental benefitsFlexible schedule and opportunities for remote workRobots with lasers!
