The Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is seeking a Cultural Housing Support Worker in Halifax, NS, dedicated to promoting housing stability for Indigenous clients. This full-time role provides the needed support using a trauma-informed methodology.
As a Cultural Housing Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping unhoused Indigenous individuals navigate their pathways to secure housing. You must be adept in responding to complex client needs while utilizing community resources effectively. This position requires a commitment to the principles of Housing First and a culturally aware, client-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop strength-based housing plans with clients • Advocate for client needs in broader systemic settings • Deliver crisis intervention and eviction prevention assistance • Maintain comprehensive and confidential client records • Collaborate with community partners on client services
Requirements: • Diploma or certification in social services or related area • Relevant work experience or equivalent education • Robust knowledge of Indigenous and housing-related issues • Exceptional communication skills • Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
