HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Electrical EIT to join our team of Power Delivery professionals. The role involves design of substation projects ranging from simple device replacements to large greenfield sites.Primary ResponsibilitiesPrepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for electrical substations (low, medium, high voltage).Collaborate with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications.Develop design deliverables including one‑line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA schemes, communications plans, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.Perform site visits during design, construction, and as‑built phases.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Minimum 2 years of substation design experience in P&C or physical design.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work in a team environment.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Self‑motivated and able to take initiative.Exposure to general Civil Engineering experience a plus.Prior experience in both P&C and physical substation design considered a plus.Experience using AutoCAD and/or Microstation considered a plus.Prior experience consulting or working for an electric utility considered a plus.Experience with electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower considered a plus.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering.Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate.Computer skills in Microsoft Office.Commitment to active participation in employee‑owned culture.BenefitsMedical, dental, vision, short and long‑term disability, life insurance, employee assistance program, paid time away, parental leave, paid holidays, retirement savings plan with employer match, employee referral bonus, and tuition reimbursement.Compensation and LocationPay range (Vancouver, BC): $75,548 – $102,212.Primary Location: Calgary, Alberta.
