We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Facility Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of LabStore, a Core Research Platform in the Faculty of Science. This role is ideal for a cooperative leader with strong operational, financial, and stakeholder management skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.The successful candidate will manage facility operations, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, support financial planning, and foster strong relationships with researchers, staff, students, and external partners.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Management & PlanningLead the daily operations of LabStore, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality service deliveryDevelop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, and service standardsOversee inventory management, procurement, and vendor relationships, including negotiating pricing and service agreementsEnsure compliance with institutional, safety, and regulatory requirements, including hazardous materials handlingMaintain accurate records across operational, inventory, and financial systemsManage the facility website and communications, including user engagement and outreachIdentify opportunities to enhance efficiency, service quality, and user experience through performance monitoring and continuous improvementAnalyze and report on financial and operational data to support planning, sustainability assessment, and informed decision-making; collaborate with the Director to support strategic growth and service expansion initiativesServe as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including researchers, partners, and suppliersSupport collaborations,



partnerships, and revenue-generating opportunitiesCoordinate outreach activities, and research-related initiatives; produce and present materials for these initiativesManage billing, financial transactions, and reporting using institutional systemsSupport budget planning, monitoring, and financial analysisPrepare project costing, financial summaries, and operational reportsAssist with grant applications, including budgeting, documentation, and submission supportSupervise, train, and support staff, students, and volunteersFoster a collaborative and high-performing team environmentPlan staffing needs and coordinate schedules to ensure operational continuityQualificationsEducationUndergraduate degree in a relevant field (Chemistry or related field required)ExperienceMinimum 1 year of experience in project management, operations, or facility coordinationExperience in financial management, budgeting, and reportingExperience supervising staff or leading teamsExperience working in environments requiring multitasking and adaptabilityStrong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholdersDemonstrated leadership and team development capabilitiesStrong analytical,



problem-solving, and decision-making skillsFinancial acumen, including budgeting, cost analysis, and vendor negotiationAbility to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environmentPreferred / Asset QualificationsKnowledge of laboratory operations, scientific products, and chemical handling regulations (NJ2.1)(DD2.2)Familiarity with institutional systems (e.G., Mosaic, MacBuy, MacBill)Experience in marketing and outreach activitiesUnderstanding of retail or inventory management principlesExperience managing online content or digital platformsAdditional InformationThis role may require occasional evening or weekend work for eventsSome physical activity may be required, including assisting with inventory or materials handlingWhy Join Us?This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting cutting‑edge research while contributing to a collaborative and innovative academic environment.Pay Transparency StatementThis job is currently under review and is anticipated to align with Band J. Current band J salary range: $69,652 - $104,478 (annual); hiring range: $69,652 - $91,331.19. The posted hiring range represents McMaster's typical hiring range for this position. Actual starting salary will depend on factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions.Individuals with extensive experience, deep specialized expertise, and/or those who can demonstrate exceptional past performance, as applicable, may be hired at a higher rate within the full range, in accordance with the University compensation policies.#J-18808-Ljbffr
