Salary: $85000 - $90000Role Status: Current OpeningDesign Engineer SupervisorOverviewThe Design Engineer Supervisor acts as a hands‑on Design Engineer while overseeing a group of Design Engineers. In addition to the Design Engineer responsibilities, the Supervisor is responsible for distributing workload, measuring throughput and performance, and reviewing and coaching their team. Reporting to the Director of Sales and Engineering and liaising continuously with our Sales Consultants, the role contributes to overall company performance by helping us win current business and opportunities while ensuring that designs maximize material yielding and minimize labour steps without sacrificing product protection.ResponsibilitiesProvides supervision to a group of Design EngineersManages workload amongst the groupProvides coaching, training, and support to their teamManages deliverables and metrics such as design turnaround, sample delivery, production spec accuracyCollaborates with staff from sales, customer service, manufacturing and shipping departments to optimize package designDrafts specifications for corrugated, polyethylene foam, polyurethane foam, wood,



and other materialsUtilizes 3D modelling software to analyze customer CAD data and develop solutions/proposalsAnalyzes cushion curves and material specifications to design around customer product shock tolerancesPerforms and/or oversees the design of the finished packaging, emphasizing function and cost efficiencyPerforms and facilitates package testing (ISTA, FEDEX, etc)Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to develop packaging concepts and production drawingsResearches and introduces prototype packaging using traditional and innovative materialsParticipates in administering the First Article process for the facility, ordering, and inspecting tooling and completed partsReviews NCRs and validates effectiveness of resultant Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs)Performs other duties as requiredRequirementsDegree or Diploma in Package Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field requiredFive years of experience in package design preferredMinimum one year of supervisory experienceExtensive knowledge of packaging material and designExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong analytical and problem‑solving skillsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareProficient with AutoCAD#J-18808-Ljbffr
