Your future role on our teamWe’re looking for a dynamic, creative and creative senior estimator who’s comfortable working in the consulting engineering industry. You'll actively participate in meeting the growing demands of our clients. As a team member, you’ll be responsible for tracking changes and estimating direct and indirect project costs.Type of positionRegularResponsibilitiesDevelop multidisciplinary estimates using engineering data, material quantity take-offs and/or scope of work documentationOrganize estimates based on the work breakdown structure and established cost codingCalculate hourly labour rates, productivity factors and indirect costsDevelop pricing for local raw materials such as aggregates and concrete, and update pricing for key bulk materials in the estimating model to ensure alignment with the project location and currencySupervise and review the work of junior estimatorsPrepare assessments for allowances, markups and miscellaneous costsCarry out material quantity take-offsParticipate in value analysis exercises and trade-off studiesWork closely with cost controllers and project plannersContribute to the continuous improvement of estimation methods, tools and proceduresWhen assigned to a site, assess any changes made by the client and/or subcontractor to original contractsPrepare estimation execution plans and basis of estimate documentsPropose or help develop pricing strategies (fixed-price pricing), including integrating work package lists,



defining quantities and key dates, establishing installation labour methodologies and indirect costs methodologies and reviewing with the project teamPresent and defend estimates to BBA management and lead estimate reviews and client presentationsQualificationsCollege diploma or university degreeFrom 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in the consulting engineering field or any other combination of relevant education and experienceExperience in project estimation in the mining and/or heavy industry sectors, with particular expertise in installing mechanical process equipment and process pipingSolid experience with cost estimation practices for conceptual, pre-feasibility and feasibility studiesKnowledge of cost estimation softwareProficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially ExcelAdvanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projectsAdvanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in QuébecAsset: excellent knowledge of AACEI practicesAsset: experience with international project estimationAsset: experience with construction and cost estimation methods across multiple disciplinesBenefitsAnnual premium program for all regular employeesOnsite mobility premiumTime
