(KCB) seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mining Environmental Group in either our Sudbury or Toronto office. This role will support and lead geotechnical aspects of mining projects, with a focus on tailings storage facilities (TSFs), mine waste, and water management. Career development can be managed to support personal preferences such as niche, technical design specialists, or project participation in both technical dam engineering scopes and project management, or all-round dam engineering specialists, such as the responsible persons or Engineers of Record.The position offers a hybrid work arrangement and the opportunity to contribute to complex, large-scale global projects.This role will give you the opportunity to:Lead and support the design, construction, operation,
and closure of tailings storage facilitiesPerform and contribute to risk assessments, dam safety evaluations, and risk-based decision-makingCollaborate with clients, internal teams, and external partners on field programs and engineering solutionsConduct geotechnical analyses, including slope stability and seepage assessmentsOversee site investigations, laboratory testing, and earthworks activitiesMentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and staffDevelop and maintain strong client relationships throughout project lifecyclesUtilize industry-standard software and tools for analysis and designParticipate in professional development opportunities, including conferences and trainingWhat We RequireWe respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to help you build on it. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer role would require the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering (or related discipline)Eligibility for Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensure in Canada10 - 15 years of civil design experience, with five years related to mine waste management projects.Candidates must have a background in geotechnical design, with a focus on dams, embankments, and slopes.Demonstrated experience with dam design, slope stability, seepage analysis, and site investigationStrong understanding of soil and rock mechanics,
including laboratory and field testingExperience working in safety-focused environments with incident reporting requirementsProven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teamsIn addition to the must-have requirements above, you will excel in the role if you have the following:Experience in seismic analysis of dams and related software packages.An ability to find creative solutions and know how to present them.A willingness to mentor others and be mentored.An ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and industry partners.An ability to apply critical thinking and flexibility in problem solving.What We OfferThe expected salary range for this position is $110,000 - $160,000 annually. Compensation above this range may be considered for candidates with significant experience or specialized expertise.
