About the Role:Global Toronto is seeking a full time, temporary (12-month) Anchor/Producer to join the team. Reporting to the News Director, this role will be responsible for co-anchoring Global News at 6 and anchoring late-night newscasts across various markets. The successful candidate must be comfortable working late nights on a regular basis, as well as a range of other shifts as required, including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position supports our multi-platform, digital-first strategy and contributes to our commitment to delivering news content 24/7. This is a Group 3 position under the current collective agreement.Responsibilities:Anchor local and national newscasts in various markets and platformsWork with producers to lead editorial discussions and help determine the editorial direction and content of newscastsInitiate and develop story ideas through contact development, research, and interviewsActively participate in daily meetings by bringing enterprise pitches and advocating for strong local contentWrite, edit, and produce packaged and live segmentsReport, Anchor, Co-Anchor other Global newscasts and/or special event coverageCreatively use production graphics and other visual elements to enhance storytellingBe a strong advocate, model, and mentor for digital journalism and a digital-first workflowParticipate in Global Toronto promotional and community initiativesPerform other duties as requiredSkills and Experience:Post-secondary education in journalism, broadcasting,



or a related fieldAn experienced Journalist capable of reporting and anchoring daily newsMinimum five years of reporting/anchoring experience is required. Preferable experience anchoring a daily newscast in a major marketExemplary leadership and communication skillsExceptional news writing, news delivery, and storytelling skillsProven on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted materialStrong news judgment and editorial skillsProficient in creating, curating, and developing content using digital operating systems for multiple platformsThe ability to respond quickly and knowledgeably to breaking newsStrong understanding of local news in various markets as well as national newsWillingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows as well as show a willingness to learn new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operationPossess excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to make independent decisions in pressure situationsAbility to work well independently as well as effectively collaborate in a team settingWork well under pressure while meeting strict deadlines, possess a desire to be the best, and have a positive can-do attitudeStrong problem-solving skills and ability to adjust to changing priorities and objectivesApplication Deadline: December 23, 2025Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeContractJob functionWriting/Editing and Public RelationsIndustriesBroadcast Media Production and Distribution and Entertainment Providers#J-18808-Ljbffr
