As an
Engineering I – Mechanical Systems and Equipment
you will, with oversight, support the design, development, implementation, and analysis of mechanical systems and equipment for advanced and legacy reactor applications. You will perform engineering calculations and analyses related to thermal, thermal‑hydraulic, and piping systems while working with senior engineers. You will develop and provide hands‑on exposure to complex engineering work, offering a clear path toward taking on increased technical responsibility. You will report to the
Manager, Mechanical Systems & Equipment
and be located at the
Kitchener, Ontario Office . This position will be offered as a
hybrid
role. Employees working in hybrid roles are expected to work onsite at our
Kitchener, Ontario Office
at least
3 days per week . Key Responsibilities
With oversight, support the design, development, implementation, and analysis of mechanical systems, components, and equipment Perform thermal, thermal‑hydraulic,
and piping network design and analysis Develop equipment sizing calculations for blowers, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, and related components Support senior engineers in design and analysis activities while steadily building technical independence Identify technical issues within assigned tasks and propose practical engineering solutions while working within defined scope, schedule, and budget Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering or related field (Chemical or Mechatronics) 0–2 years of professional engineering experience Knowledge of engineering principles, first‑principles analysis, uncertainty treatment, and engineering tools 1+ years of experience with Mathcad, MATLAB, and/or VBA Familiarity with mechanical system and component design and analysis, including fluid systems and interfaces with instrumentation and control Willingness to work toward P.Eng. licensure Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on occasion Base salary range: $62,400 to $78,000 per year, dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills.
