The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible for performing and documenting a full range of duties which include: decontaminating, assembling, packaging, high level disinfection, sterilizing, storing and distributing sterile instruments (including the most highly complex instruments), supplies and non-sterile equipment for patient care units, clinics and operating rooms.
Description: As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program.Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications: Medical Device Reprocessing qualification from a recognized sterile processing course, including successful completion of practicum placement from a recognized educational institution is required.Medical Device Reprocessing Certification from CSA is required.Knowledge of the WHMIS program and Infection Control Practices is necessary.
