Under the authority of the Director, Security, Safety and Regulatory Compliance, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of airport security operations. The incumbent provides functional oversight of the security services provider and ensures the quality, effectiveness and compliance of the services delivered.
The incumbent works closely with the YHU Terminal management team, air carriers, tenants, government agencies and various operational partners to ensure smooth operations and maintain a safe and secure environment.
In addition to these operational responsibilities, the incumbent serves as the primary support to their immediate supervisor in the day-to-day management of airport security activities, regulatory compliance, follow-ups with security service providers, and the implementation of initiatives aimed at continuously improving security and safety practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage day-to-day airport security operations.
Supervise the airport security services provider.
Represent MET on a daily basis and act as the liaison with YHU Terminal and internal and external partners.
Ensure regulatory compliance and implement quality assurance controls in accordance with Transport Canada requirements.
Assist the MET management team in implementing the Airport Emergency Response Plan.Coordinate initial response efforts during incidents or emergency situations.
Actively contribute to the training, coaching and professional development of security personnel, promoting the consistent application of procedures,



the continuous improvement of operational practices, and service excellence.
Draft, update and communicate directives, operating procedures and work instructions to ensure regulatory compliance, consistency of practices and operational effectiveness.
May be called upon to replace their supervisor as required.Perform any other related duties associated with the position. Responsibilities may evolve based on the organization’s needs, as this is a newly created position, and may include manual tasks.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS University degree in security and police studies, public safety, operations management or a related field, an asset.
Significant experience in a security, public safety, airport operations or related environment, including at least three (3) years in a role involving supervisory responsibilities, personnel management or the coordination of operational teams.
Excellent management, leadership and communication skills.In-depth knowledge of civil aviation and airport security regulations, access control systems, video surveillance systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
Fluency in both French and English.Valid driver’s licence (Class 4A or ability to obtain one).
Successful completion of the required tests to obtain a Type D Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP), as well as a Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification.
Ability to perform the role in a multidisciplinary, 24/7 operational setting.
Must have no criminal record.
