Description
Lead the Fleet. Shape the Future. Keep Mainroad Moving.
When your fleet spans highway maintenance, snow and ice control, construction, electrical and infrastructure services, fleet management is more than keeping equipment on the road—it’s about keeping communities moving.

Mainroad Group is looking for an experienced Corporate Fleet Manager to join OnTime Sales & Leasing , our internal fleet and leasing organization supporting Mainroad’s operating companies across British Columbia and Alberta.

This is a corporate leadership role with a difference . You won’t be running individual garages or telling local teams how to do their jobs. Instead, you’ll provide the strategy, data, systems, standards and expertise that help our operating companies make better fleet decisions, improve readiness and control costs.

You’ll lead a team of three Regional Equipment Managers and work closely with General Managers, garage leaders and operational teams across the organization.

What You’ll Do
Set the Fleet Strategy

Establish corporate fleet standards, governance, reporting and performance expectations.

Build a clear enterprise-wide view of fleet cost, utilization, compliance, downtime and asset lifecycle.

Support capital planning, replacement strategies and fleet standardization.

Identify opportunities to improve asset deployment and overall fleet performance.

Turn Data Into Decisions

Lead fleet cost and performance analysis using Holman, financial data, maintenance history, utilization and telematics .

Develop and monitor meaningful KPIs including cost per unit, downtime, availability, utilization, PM compliance, reactive repairs and warranty recovery.

Use Power BI and other reporting tools to turn complex fleet data into practical, actionable insights.

Identify recurring failures, cost drivers, underutilized assets and opportunities for improvement.

Partner with OpCo General Managers, garage leads and operational leaders to solve fleet challenges.

Provide practical guidance on preventative maintenance, repair planning, vendor performance and equipment readiness.

Support decisions around internal versus outsourced maintenance.

Help local teams prepare for seasonal demands, particularly winter operations.

Escalate systemic risks and recurring issues while respecting local operational ownership.

Champion Compliance & Safety

Support compliance with National Safety Code (NSC), CVIP, WorkSafeBC/OHS, licensing, registration and insurance requirements .

Develop reporting and audit-support tools that give leadership confidence in fleet compliance.

Identify trends and gaps and work with local leadership on corrective action.

Help ensure our equipment is safe, compliant and ready when it matters most.

Make Our Systems Work Smarter

Champion consistent and effective use of Holman (formerly ARI) across the organization.

Improve work order discipline, repair coding, maintenance authorization, invoice accuracy and data quality.

Use fleet data to monitor vendor cost, quality, turnaround time, warranty recovery and repeat repairs.

Ensure our fleet information is accurate enough to support real business decisions.

Lead initiatives that improve equipment uptime, PM compliance, winter readiness, workflow discipline and lifecycle cost.

Create consistency where it adds value while allowing local teams the flexibility they need.

Build a proactive, data-driven fleet culture focused on readiness, compliance, cost and service reliability .

You’re the Right Fit If…

You’re a fleet professional who can see both the big picture and the details .

You bring:

7–10+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, heavy equipment, highway maintenance, construction or another asset-intensive environment.

Experience supporting multiple locations, business units, or a decentralized/matrix organization .

Strong knowledge of heavy trucks, vocational equipment, snow and ice equipment, highway maintenance units and mixed fleets.

A proven ability to lead through influence , build trust and bring people along with change.

Solid knowledge of NSC, CVIP, provincial inspections, licensing, registration, insurance and OHS requirements in BC and Alberta.

Strong analytical and financial skills, including fleet cost analysis, lifecycle costing, KPIs and maintenance data.

Experience with Holman/ARI or a similar fleet management system .

Experience with Power BI or comparable reporting and analytics tools .

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with executives, General Managers, garage teams and field operations.

A practical, solutions-oriented mindset—you understand that the best fleet strategy is one that actually works in the field.

We will be offering a full compensation package including: RRSP matching, additional vacation entitlement, annual performance-based bonus, extended health benefits.
