The Prospect:

Prairie Diagnostic Services Inc. is a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory located at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. We provide diagnostic testing and expertise that supports animal health across Saskatchewan and beyond.

We are seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Laboratory Technologist to join our Necropsy team on a permanent full-time basis.

This position includes physically demanding work and heavy manual labour, with or without mechanical assistance. Employees use a variety of laboratory equipment, power tools, mechanical aids and an overhead crane as part of their regular duties.

Typical hours of work are weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Weekend work, overtime and rotational call duty on weekends and holidays are required.





The work environment may involve exposure to animal remains, tissue fixatives and unknown or potentially pathogenic organisms. Appropriate training, personal protective equipment and safety protocols are provided. The successful candidate will also be provided with a rabies vaccination as required for the position.

The knowledge and technical skills required for this position are typically obtained through completion of an accredited Veterinary Technology program. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training and laboratory experience may also be considered. Experience working in a veterinary necropsy laboratory or similar environment is an asset.
