The Simcoe County District School Board is accepting applications for the following position:

Temporary GET SET Instructor For Adult Learners - Adult & Continuing Education - Night School

Location: Barrie Learning Centre, Bayfield Mall, Barrie

Salary :$37.51 per hour, plus vacation pay
(in accordance with theOSSTF Instructors' Collective Agreement)

Start Date : September 8, 2026

End Date : December 17, 2026

Schedule : Monday to Thursday

Time :5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Qualifications:

Required:
Facilitation skills and experience in training youth and adult learners. Efficient in classroom management within a technologically rich and varied skill-set learning environment. Capable of facilitating protected, enriching discussions with adult learners in a group and individual settings using various resources, learning plans and curriculum. Experience facilitating online and remote workshops including knowledge of and proficiency using various platforms such as MS Teams and Google Meets. Excellent written and oral communication skills; numeracy and digital skills; critical thinking and problem solving. Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing English for assessment and instruction of high school level material including paragraph writing, grammar,



punctuation and various writing skills. Ability to be flexible and respond to changing demands. Ability to schedule time, prioritize and complete various electronic and paper-based documents such as intake and exit forms, assessments, and learning plans. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.

Preferred:
Experience working with students in a continuous intake classroom setting where a wide range of literacy and essential skills are present and goal paths are varied. Experience developing learning plans to accommodate various learning styles. Experience working with adults with various barriers to education or employment, as well as some knowledge of local social and community programming. Experience with Google Suites and Brightspace (D2L) an asset as well as resourcing adult literacy material for use in the classroom or individual settings. Post-secondary education with a focus on adult education, training, or literacy. Adult literacy tutor training certificate is an asset.
