Drive safety culture at Sq'éwqel (Seabird Island Band) as a Health and Safety Officer. This role focuses on developing safety programs in line with WorkSafeBC standards in a vibrant community.
The Health and Safety Officer plays a critical role in promoting workplace health and safety at Sq'éwqel. You will collaborate under the Human Resources Manager to implement policies, manage cases, and provide extensive training for staff. Your expertise will ensure compliance with regulations while respecting First Nations perspectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and communicate safety policies and procedures
• Perform risk assessments and audits on-site
• Conduct safety orientation and training for employees
• Manage cases of occupational injuries and illnesses
• Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
• Certification in health and safety (e.g., CRSP, CSP)
• Experience in First Nations community settings preferred
• Valid driver’s license and means of transportation
