Description
Working under general supervision of the Clinical Manager, this position is responsible for providing clerical support to the nursing units, taking meeting notes at Care team meetings, communicating information between nursing and other departments, residents and families, maintaining confidentiality of resident information. This position may also be required to assist residents in the activities of daily living.

Status: Full Time

Shift: 8 hours per shift; 5 days a week

THE ROLE
Key Accountabilities

Demonstrates, promotes and advocates the Wing Kei vision, mission and core values

Provides clerical assistance to the nursing units, Director of Care and other management personnel as required

Provides clerical assistance for the MDS program

Maintenance of Medical Records Room and discharge records

Creates and maintains current resident files and records, keeps files of old records

Transferring data on residents’ weights and blood pressures on MDS





Accumulation, graphing and distribution of monthly statistics

Distribution of mail to various units, and coordinate nursing mail

Under direction of the charge nurses, prepares designated lab work and completes lab and other requisition forms

In conjunction with scheduler/nursing staff, obtains relief staff for replacement callsUnder direction of the charge nurse, maintains all nursing offices, including filing and obtaining office supplies

Maintains inventory of supplies, orders and replenishes supplies as needed

Ensures equipment is maintained in valuable working order

Other duties as assigned

THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL SUCCEED

Is aligned with Wing Kei’s vision and mission to continue to deliver excellence in seniors care

Completed a Unit Clerk program or equivalent

Has proven computer skills and word processing experience required

Has a typing speed of a minimum 40 words per minute

Customer service-orientated; works well with interdisciplinary teams

Effective communication skills including writing and speaking
