Peter Ballantyne Child & Family Services Inc. is accepting applications for one (1) Foster Care Worker for the PBCFSI office in Pelican Narrows, SK.

Responsibilities

- Providing services to children in care.
- Investigating reports of abuse, neglect and abandonment.
- Place children in need of protection.
- Monitor placements on a regular basis.
- Providing a range of family support service.
- Developing preventions and educational services.
- Providing on-going counseling and support services to children and families.
- Recruiting and training prospective foster parents.
- Conducting in depth home studies.
- Making recommendations regarding the approval and use of new foster home parents and assisting them in meeting the obligations to family services and the children/families that are placed in their care.
- Conducting annual and periodic review of foster homes to evaluate their fostering services.
- Ensure their family health, psychological, training and skilled needs are met.
- Assisting in coordinating emergency and ongoing foster placements within the service centre area




- Recruiting and licensing foster homes and maintain an adequate pool of foster care resources within the community.

Qualifications

- BSW or BISW, Social Work Degree or equivalent training with and/or experience in the Child & Family Services area or related field.
- Mature, Stable and leads a healthy lifestyle
- Commitment to protecting children.
- Willingness to participate in training and travel when required.
- Excellent written, oral communication and public speaking skills.
- Knowledge of the Cree culture, language, political and social objectives of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.
- Persons of First Nation’s Ancestry are encouraged to apply.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Employment will be determined based on a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check*.
