Employer: Great Lakes Group PLC Programmer - Vision Systems Integration
We are seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to integrate machine vision systems with industrial PLC-controlled equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience programming PLCs, configuring vision hardware, and establishing reliable communication between vision systems, PLCs, HMIs, and automated machinery. Responsibilities
Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot PLC programming for automated equipment. Integrate machine vision cameras and inspection systems into PLC-controlled processes. Configure communication between vision equipment and PLCs using industrial protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, or similar networks. Develop PLC logic for vision triggers, inspection results, pass/fail decisions, part tracking, and reject sequences. Configure and troubleshoot industrial automation equipment, sensors, cameras, lighting, and I/O. Perform controls integration, system commissioning, debugging, and production support. Troubleshoot PLC logic, network communication, electrical controls, and vision inspection issues. Optimize automated inspection sequences for reliability, cycle time, and production performance. Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to validate equipment functionality and resolve controls-related issues. Document PLC programs, system changes, communication architecture, and troubleshooting procedures. Qualifications
Hands-on experience as a PLC Programmer, Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer,
or similar controls skilled. Strong experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial control systems. Experience integrating machine vision systems with PLC-controlled automation. Knowledge of ladder logic, structured text, function blocks, or other IEC 61131-3 programming methods. Experience with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or comparable industrial controls. Familiarity with vision platforms such as Cognex, Keyence, or similar industrial vision systems. Understanding of industrial Ethernet, I/O mapping, handshaking, data exchange, and communication protocols. Ability to troubleshoot automation systems, sensors, electrical controls, networking, and machine sequences. Experience with HMI programming, motion control, robotics, or manufacturing equipment integration is preferred. Strong problem-solving, commissioning, and technical documentation skills. Job details
