Job Summary
The Team
The Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services team is an established group committed to providing essential mental health services to young people involved in the justice system. This team works closely with probation services, community agencies and contracted service providers, as well as Youth Custody Services staff to deliver Court-ordered assessments and treatments.

The Role
In this role, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, directly caring for adolescents facing a variety of mental health and behavioral challenges. You will serve as a primary nursing therapist, case manager, or co-therapist, providing essential counselling, treatment and consultation.
You will also prepare reports related to assessment and treatment of young persons in conflict with the law. This position allows you to exercise significant clinical independence, coordinating care and resources to address complex issues. Your work will make a meaningful impact on the lives of adolescents, supporting their mental health and overall well-being within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing from a recognized university.
- NOTE:If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in psychiatric nursing.
- An equivalent combination of nursing diploma and related nursing experiences and licensed to practice nursing in BC may be considered.
Professional Registration and Certification Requirements
- Licensed to practice and registered under the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Two (2) or more years’ experience working with adolescents in a forensic or community mental health setting.

About this Position:
- Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
