**Job Title: Forklift Operator**
**Job Description**
This role combines hands-on forklift operation with inventory and systems work in a food manufacturing warehouse.

You will spend approximately half of your time operating forklifts and handling materials, and the other half using an ERP system to perform manual picking, inventory transactions, and eventually RF scanning.

You will work with ingredients stored in various temperature zones, including fridges, freezers, warm rooms, and the main production warehouse, to prepare orders and materials for the next day's production, shipping, and receiving activities.
**Responsibilities**
Operate Raymond Reach and walkie forklifts safely and efficiently to move raw materials and finished products throughout the warehouse.

Handle shipping and receiving tasks, including loading and unloading trailers and moving products to and from shipping doors.

Perform manual picking based on work orders to prepare ingredients and materials needed for the next day's production.

Use an ERP system to complete systematic transactions, including inventory updates, order picking confirmations, and stock movements.

Transition to using RF scanners as the facility moves from manual to automated scanning processes.

Work with ingredients stored at different temperatures by entering fridges, freezers, and warm rooms as needed to retrieve or store products.

Lift and repeatedly handle items weighing up to 50 lbs, especially during palletizing and order preparation.

Follow detailed work orders to ensure accurate preparation of materials and products for production and shipping.

Assist with general warehouse duties such as packing, unloading, material handling, and basic production support as required.

Operate pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment to move pallets and materials safely in tight aisles.

Maintain accurate warehouse inventory by recording movements and counts in the ERP system and through physical handling.

Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all facility policies to maintain product quality and food safety.

Follow all safety procedures, especially when operating forklifts in narrow aisles and entering cold or frozen storage areas.

Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and comply with all dress code requirements.

Collaborate with other operators and production staff to ensure smooth flow of materials between the warehouse and production floor.
**Essential Skills**
Externally certified on Raymond Reach forklift with 6 months to 1 year of recent operating experience.

Externally certified on walkie forklift with 6 months to 1 year of recent operating experience.

Proven experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

Ability to lift and repeatedly handle up to 50 lbs safely throughout the shift.

Experience with ERP systems for inventory, order picking, and warehouse transactions.

Ability to perform order picking and palletizing accurately and efficiently.

Comfort working in varied temperature environments, including fridges, freezers, warm rooms, and warm production areas.

Strong awareness of safety practices when operating forklifts in tight aisles and shared spaces.

Willingness to learn manual picking processes and adapt to new tools such as RF scanners.

Capability to follow detailed work orders and written procedures.

Ability to work on a second shift schedule from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Ability to work in a facility that handles nuts and granola products, without peanut allergies.




**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) experience in a food or pharmaceutical environment.
AZ license or commercial driving experience.

Experience with RF scanners for inventory and order picking.

Background in manufacturing or production support roles.

Previous experience with warehouse inventory control and documentation.

Familiarity with material handling tasks such as packing, unloading, and general labor in a warehouse setting.

**Work Environment**
This is a smaller food manufacturing facility that produces granola bars containing nuts.

The environment is clean, organized, and typically smells like chocolate, caramel, and nuts.

Because of the nature of the products, individuals must be able to work safely around nuts and cannot have peanut allergies.

The warehouse is directly attached to the production floor, and typically about two operators work per building on a shift, creating a focused and collaborative setting.

The aisles are relatively tight, requiring careful and safety-conscious forklift operation.

The facility follows strict GMP standards, and all employees must comply with these requirements.

Temperatures are generally controlled, but the facility can get warm in the summer, and you will also enter fridges, freezers, and warm rooms as part of the job.

The role runs on a second shift schedule from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Required PPE includes a long-sleeved lab coat, hair net, steel toe shoes, and gloves worn throughout the shift.

No jewelry is permitted on the production floor, and fake eyelashes are not allowed.

When entering freezer or fridge areas, you must be fully covered and follow all safety protocols.

You will use equipment such as Raymond Reach forklifts, walkie forklifts, pallet jacks, ERP systems, and, over time, RF scanners as the facility transitions to more automated inventory processes.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Markham, ON.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
