Job Title: Security Engineering Specialist Reports to: Sr. Manager, Security Operations Vacancy status: This posting is for an existing position. Purpose of the Role
As a Security Engineering Specialist, you will lead and manage a variety of projects in LifeLabs’ Cybersecurity team, providing a high level of expertise of Engineering best practices. In this role, you will provide operational direction and strategic guidance regarding new security services, technologies, and technical solutions to secure LifeLabs Applications & infrastructure. You will collaborate and implement Security Services and Solutions for large scale, always available, secure solutions that will have direct impact on securing LifeLabs Applications and Infrastructure, both in cloud and on premises.
You will, in many cases, interact with different stakeholders, product development leads, architects, Cybersecurity operation team members, Risk and Compliance team, vendor providers, and security service/solution providers. You will propose new security innovative solutions, updates to existing solutions, negotiate alternative options, build technical and release roadmaps. What You’ll Do:
Security Engineering & Operations Cultivate expertise in configuring Cyber Security and IT tools; configure email alerts, weekly and monthly reports, implement automation to facilitate SOC operations.
Facilitate regular health checks on Cyber Security and IT tools; compile, remediate and report the status of health check findings.
Work closely with our internal and external partners, lead the technical low-level design for new projects and technologies.
Participate in major IT incidents and Cyber Security incidents as the Cyber Security subject matter expert.
Coach and mentor Security operations engineers and SOC analysts in analyzing and resolving cyber security threats and alerts.
Maintain existing / creating new security, processes,
and standards, including the development of RACI matrices.
Create and maintain network security designs, and segmentation implementation across information security teams
Participate in ARB/SRB activities, as they arise.
Perform other duties as assigned. Cloud and Identity Security Facilitate the creation and updating of technical security standards for IAM, cloud and SaaS services and their capabilities.
Act as a subject matter expertise for security issues within, MFA, IAM, PAM, cloud & infrastructure applications and services, providing technical guidance.
Deliver cloud security guidance and design within multiple projects, using reputable Cloud Service Providers (CSP).
Lead the initiatives for securing Lab devices (workstations connected to lab instruments) Continuous Improvement Collaborate with key stakeholders from business to define privacy and security requirements for the project Provide threat intelligence, keeping up to date with industry trends, emerging technology, and as well as industry threats and the overall risk landscape
Support security compliance by identifying and responding to identified gaps in regulatory requirements An ambassador for engineering best practice across the development lifecycle and champion continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring: 10+ years of direct experience in an information security role, with significant security engineering experience
Minimum 7 years of direct experience in an information security role or an equivalent combination of education and experience with experience in the health care industry
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in IT, Business Technology Management, or any related technical field
One or more relevant security certifications (GCED, GDSA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, CEH)
Knowledge of cloud delivery, security, and deployment models for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
Knowledge of cloud security standards (i.e. NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, CSA STAR).
Experience with Security Architecture best practices and solutions Knowledge and experience in several of the following CSPs: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Expert level experience with network security reviews and system architecture designs
Technical knowledge in next-gen firewalls, distributed denial of service mitigation (DDoS), intrusion detection/prevention systems, network segregation, and security information and event management (SIEM).
Strong knowledge and experience in the following architecture and design principles and practices: cloud security, network security and segmentation, application security, end-point security, email security, DDoS mitigation, and mobile device security.

Salary range: $96,255- $122,727 CAD annually (commensurate with experience)
