Warehouse & Logistics Assistant (Part-Time)

Location: Lifecentre.Care - CityServe

Position Type: Part-Time (20-24 hours/week)

Schedule: Primarily weekdays with flexibility to work occasional evenings and Saturdays as operational needs require.

Employment: Fixed term, 1 year (with possibility of renewal)

Position Summary

The Warehouse & Logistics Assistant supports the daily operations of the Lifecentre.Care warehouse by assisting with inventory management, food rescue, warehouse organization, transportation, and distribution activities.

Working closely with the Operations Coordinator, this role helps ensure donated food and essential products are received, stored, and distributed safely and efficiently while supporting volunteers and maintaining strong relationships with donors and community partners.

This is a hands-on position that combines warehouse operations, logistics, transportation, and community service. The successful candidate will contribute to creating an efficient, safe, and welcoming warehouse environment while helping advance Lifecentre.Care’s mission of serving the community with dignity and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

- Receive, inspect, sort, and organize donated food and essential products.
- Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and warehouse organization.
- Prepare food orders and shipments for food bank clients, community partners,



and CityServe distributions.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse spaces.
- Assist with warehouse opening and closing procedures.

Transportation & Logistics

- Operate Lifecentre.Care vehicles to collect donations and complete deliveries as assigned.
- Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload donated products.
- Support food rescue operations with local retailers and community partners.
- Represent Lifecentre.Care professionally during pickups and deliveries.

Donor & Partner Support

- Build positive relationships with donors, suppliers, and community partners.
- Provide courteous and professional service during donation pickups and deliveries.
- Assist with receiving donated products and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Help maintain positive partnerships that strengthen Lifecentre.Care’s impact.

Volunteer Support

- Assist volunteers during warehouse shifts and distribution activities.
- Promote safe work practices and proper lifting techniques.
- Help create a welcoming, respectful, and team-oriented volunteer workplace.
- Support volunteer training as directed by the Operations Coordinator.

Inventory & Administration

- Assist with inventory counts and warehouse documentation.
- Maintain accurate receiving and distribution records.
- Support shipment tracking and operational reporting.
- Report inventory discrepancies, equipment issues, or safety concerns promptly.

Facility & Equipment

- Help maintain warehouse equipment and work areas.
- Operate pallet jacks and warehouse equipment safely.
- Participate in warehouse improvement and organization projects.
- Ensure all work areas remain safe, clean, and compliant with organizational standards.

Preferred Qualifications

The following would be considered assets:

- Experience in warehouse, logistics, shipping, or inventory management.
- Experience driving cargo vans, cube vans, or light commercial vehicles.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating pallet jacks or warehouse equipment.
- Food Handler Certification.
- First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Experience working alongside volunteers.
- Familiarity with inventory management software.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Push and pull loaded pallet jacks.
- Stand, bend, walk, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Load and unload vehicles safely.
- Work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.
- Operate Lifecentre.Care vehicles safely and responsibly.
