CREDIT REPRESENTATIVE
CALGARY, ALBERTA
$55K–$65K base salary + profit sharing
Full-Time | In Office

THE ROLE

We are seeking a capable and relationship-focused Credit Representative to join an established Canadian organization serving customers across the construction and industrial sectors.

Based in Calgary and reporting to the Credit Manager, you’ll manage a high-volume business-to-business credit and collections portfolio covering five affiliated companies, with a primary focus on Western Canada.

You’ll be responsible for managing assigned accounts, following up on outstanding receivables, reviewing credit risk, processing new credit applications, establishing accounts, applying payments, implementing credit holds, and helping resolve customer disputes. Particular attention will be given to accounts that are more than 90 days overdue and require escalation.

This role requires someone who can establish trust and maintain positive customer relationships while remaining confident, firm, and skilled during difficult collection conversations. You’ll work with considerable autonomy while collaborating closely with Branch Managers and other internal teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage an assigned portfolio of high-volume B2B credit and collection accounts across five affiliated companies
- Make collection calls and conduct regular follow-up to support the timely receipt of customer payments
- Prioritize and actively manage accounts that are more than 90 days overdue
- Escalate delinquent accounts and recommend appropriate collection or credit actions
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers while confidently navigating difficult collection conversations
- Conduct regular financial and credit reviews to assess customer risk
- Review Equifax, Dun & Bradstreet, and other commercial credit reports to support credit-granting decisions
- Process and approve new credit applications within established policies and authority levels




- Complete comprehensive credit inquiries and obtain relevant financial and trade information
- Establish new customer accounts and maintain accurate account information within internal systems
- Process credit card payments and apply transactions within the accounting system
- Temporarily suspend credit privileges or place accounts on credit hold when appropriate
- Monitor customer accounts and identify emerging risks, payment issues, and potential disputes
- Work closely with Branch Managers to provide receivables updates and ensure disputes are addressed promptly
- Collaborate with sales, operations, accounting, and other internal stakeholders to resolve account issues
- Assist with cash application and payment reconciliation when required
- Maintain accurate notes, records, and follow-up activities within the company’s systems
- Manage newly assigned accounts and collection buckets as the portfolio evolves
- Contribute to a collaborative and respectful team environment
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Credit Manager

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

- Previous experience in B2B credit, collections, accounts receivable, or a related position
- Experience managing a high-volume portfolio in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to collect overdue balances while preserving productive customer relationships
- Experience reviewing and analyzing Equifax and Dun & Bradstreet reports for credit and risk-assessment purposes
- Experience processing credit applications, establishing customer accounts, and making credit recommendations
- Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred
- Experience within construction, industrial distribution, building materials, or a related industry is an asset
- Experience with P21, Rubicon, or comparable ERP and credit-management systems is an asset
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook




- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
