Position Summary:

- The Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch seeks a Therapist, who, in accordance with the agency’s policies, standards, and guidelines, is responsible for providing client centered assessment, counseling, and support to individuals and families affected by substance use. This role delivers individual, group, and/or family therapy; develops personalized service plans; and uses harm reduction and wellness focused approaches to promote recovery. The therapist coordinates referrals, offers aftercare, responds to brief walk ins, and engages in community outreach while collaborating with diverse partners to ensure accessible, culturally responsive services

What You'll Do:

- Conduct comprehensive assessments (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7 and substance use screening) for youth and adults to identify mental health and substance use concerns and inform individualized treatment plans.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized service plans in collaboration with clients, incorporating their goals, values, strengths, and treatment needs.
- Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy (e.g., Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and psychotherapy) addressing mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety, as well as substance use and/or gambling issues.
- Deliver brief, solution-focused therapy to individuals experiencing substance use concerns and/or to family members and friends impacted by substance use.
- Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups as required.
- Provide aftercare and follow-up support to promote continuity of care and long-term recovery.
- Offer crisis-responsive and walk-in services,



delivering brief interventions to individuals accessing support onsite.
- Provide health promotion, prevention education, and relapse prevention strategies to clients and the community.
- Support clients in accessing appropriate treatment options, including referrals to withdrawal management, residential/live-in treatment programs, and community-based services.
- Advocate for clients and support them in understanding and exercising their rights, while assisting in identifying, building, and maintaining natural support systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, consulting professionals (e.g., psychologists), and community partners to ensure coordinated and effective care.
- Liaise with referral sources and maintain strong working relationships with community agencies, ethno-racial organizations, and professional networks.
- Participate in community outreach, including school-based services, youth hubs, and public education initiatives, as assigned.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and complete administrative tasks, including data entry and reporting in accordance with organizational standards.
- Participate in clinical consultation, team meetings, supervision, and program development and evaluation activities.
- Support longer-term clients as required to meet program and service demands.
- Contribute to ongoing program improvement and service delivery enhancements.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, internal and external committees, agency initiatives, and educational programs to the community as required.
- Assist in training, mentoring, and supporting new staff, students, or volunteers.
- Represent the agency’s mission, values, and philosophy in all community and professional interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or organizational leadership.

Required Qualifications:

- 3-5 years experience in the human services field.
- Must be one of the following: Human Service Worker, Social Service Worker Addictions Diploma or, A University degree in a human service related field.
- All applicants must be registered as a member in good standing with one of the following six regulatory bodies: the College of Psychologists of Ontario, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers,



the College of Nurses of Ontario, the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
- Experience in mental health and/or addictions sector (community-based setting preferred).
- Submission of a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), including a Criminal Record Check (CRC) in good standing.
- Must have access to a vehicle, a valid Ontario driver’s license, and adequate automobile insurance.
- Fluency in French or another second language would be an asset.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Salary Scale:

- RN: $61,600 - $70,000 *per annum

Hours of Work:

- Thirty-five (35) hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Able to work within a flexible framework to respond to client needs.
