As a Post-Sentence Support Worker, you will be expected work directly with individuals (participants) both currently and formerly incarcerated. In working with participants, the Support Worker will help them meet the terms of their sentence, as well as working on addressing the root causes of their offence to reduce recidivism with the individual.

The Post Sentence Support Worker shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned but not restricted to the following:

- Create knowledge about the Post Sentence Support service to RCMP, Crown Prosecutors, Lawyers, Judges, Gladue writers, Probation Services
- Identify and make referrals to outer supports: mental health, therapy/counselling, housing, advocacy, healing circles, addictions treatment and intervention, land-based and cultural training.
- Establish effective networks with other stakeholders, including family, community, agencies in service and program provision for individuals in the post stage.
- Support the client and their families with any healing support
- Assist individuals in community reintegration
- Assist with the development, implementation and facilitation of custom programming/workshops
- Provide Quarterly activity reports to programs,



funders (and First Nations if needed)
- To respect, protect and maintain client rights and confidentiality

Qualifications and Skills required

- Relevant education and experience working within a Justice related program (1-2 years)
- Awareness and sensitivity of First Nations issues
- Knowledge of First Nations practices
- Knowledge of traditional teachings and cultural advisory experience is an asset
- Requires organizational and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication both verbal and written
- Maintain case management
- Able to work flexible hours
- Work well within a team or independently
- Criminal record and Child abuse Registry checks
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to travel if needed
