Safety & Compliance Coordinator

Reports To: Safety & Compliance Manager

Position Summary

The Safety & Compliance Coordinator supports the Safety & Compliance team by assisting with day-to-day safety programs, driver compliance, and regulatory requirements for our asset-based trucking fleet. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, focused on maintaining accurate records, monitoring compliance, and supporting a strong safety culture across drivers and operations.

This position is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and looking to grow within a safety and compliance career in transportation.

Key Responsibilities

Driver Safety & Compliance

- Assist with driver onboarding and maintain accurate Driver Qualification Files (DQFs)
- Monitor driver licenses, medicals, abstracts, and certifications; track renewals and expiries
- Audit driver logs (ELD and/or paper) and escalate violations for review and follow-up
- Track and document HOS violations, inspections, tickets, and warnings
- Support accident and incident investigations, including documentation and follow-up actions

Fleet & Regulatory Support

- Assist with monitoring vehicle compliance records, inspections, and credentials
- Support permit, licensing, and regulatory documentation tracking
- Work closely with Fleet and Operations teams to ensure compliance documentation is current




- Stay up to date with federal and provincial transportation safety regulations

Training & Safety Programs

- Support safety training programs, including new-hire orientation and refresher training
- Assist with scheduling and tracking safety meetings and training completion
- Help promote safety awareness and compliance across drivers and staff

Administration & Reporting

- Maintain accurate safety, compliance, and training records
- Prepare reports, summaries, and documentation as required
- Assist with insurance claim reporting and recordkeeping
- Perform additional safety and compliance-related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

- Knowledge of trucking safety and compliance requirements (DOT/FMCSA/MTO experience an asset)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced workplace
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with computers and compliance systems (ELD, spreadsheets, document management)
- Experience in transportation, safety, or compliance is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
